New Agreements Spur Export Advancements

In recent weeks, several contracts for the sale and purchase of long-term LNG capacity have either been finalized or advanced. Increasingly customers looking for long-term stability of supply are striking deals in light of the uncertainty of North American export regulations.

Cheniere Energy, for example, has signed up Spanish gas company Endesa to import 1.5 million tonnes annually from Cheniere’s Corpus Christi liquefaction project. The company also is rumored to be close to a deal with Enel for about 0.7 million tonnes. Both 20-year contracts are expected to begin in 2018 when the Corpus Christi trains come online. Cheniere fully subscribed customers to the capacity from its six liquefaction trains at Sabine Pass. The first train there is expected online next year....Full Article
